Cannon Beach Farmers Market July 20 and September 21, 2010 Newmans at 988 will be the featured Restaurant of the Week at the Cannon Beach Farmers Market on July 20 and September 21. We will be serving up Chef John's famous crab cakes and roasted vegetables so come on down to the market and enjoy. The Farmers Market is open on Tuesdays from 2 to 6pm in the Haystack Public Parking Lot at the corner of Gower Street and Hemlock in Cannon Beach.

May was American Wetlands Month, and we served Lingcod as part of The Wetlands Conservancy's Aqua Plate Special. 10% of the proceeds of each Aqua Plate Special served in May 2010 were donated to The Wetlands Conservancy. Chef's Night Out in Cannon Beach On Sunday, May 23, Chef John joined other local chefs for Chef's Night Out. An annual fundraiser for the Cannon Beach Children's Center hosted by the Surfsand Resort, the event was a major success. 9th Annual Clearwater Classic Surf Contest An avid surfer himself, Chef John from Newmans at 988 will be catering for the judges at the annual surf contest in Westport, Washington. Dinner at the Steamboat Inn Chef John Newman was the featured chef for the March 13 Steamboat Inn Guest Chef and Winemakers Dinner in Steamboat, Oregon. Appetizers included garlic polenta, mushroom caps & asiago cheese, and Chef John's famous crab cakes. Dinner courses featured King Fisher Farms Organic Salad Greens, Lobster Ravioli, Rack of Lamb, and Poached Pear for dessert.
